How to Apply COLOUR Flair® Powder Coatings

Pretreatment 
The surface to be coated is cleaned by removing dirt, oil, grease or mill scales. Generally, the surface is then pretreated to produce phosphate conversion coatings. On galvanized substrates zinc phosphate or chromate coating is recommended. Alluminium substrates may require 7 stage chromate conversion coating to achieve maximum protection.

Application Methods 
After surface treatment the powder is deposited on the article by any of the following four methods 

1. Electrostatic spray guns
2. Electrostatic fluidised beds
3. Fluidised beds
4. Tribo guns

The most widely used method of applying the powder is by electrostatic spray guns (Corona). It is based on the principle whereby powder particles transported by air pressure to the spray head of a dispensing gun, receive an electrostatic charge, and any grounded or earthed substrate in the path of the projected powder attracts and retains the particles by electrostatic adhesion.

Stoving
The coated object is then moved into an oven where the surface temperature is raised to the specified level and maintained for a specific time duration. Here the particles melt, fuse and harden into a tough adherant film. The stoving schedule of COLOURFlairs Powder Coatings varies with the type of the powder used.

· COLOURFlairs Epoxy Powders : 15 mints. @ 185 0C and 10 mints. @ 200 0C
· COLOURFlairs Hybrid Powders : 10 mints. @ 180 0C
· COLOURFlairs Pure Polyester Powders : 10 mints. @ 200 0C

Storage
COLOURFlairs powder coatings should be stored in a cool dry place. The shelf life of the powder is 6 months when stored at 250C.

Packing 
COLOURFlairs powder coatings are packed in 15 kg (5 kg. x 3 bags) & 5 kg. corrugated boxes.
